Specimen Details:
Smoky quartz is a variety of quartz colored by natural irradiation interacting with trace elements within the crystal lattice. Quartz crystallizes in the trigonal crystal system and commonly forms six-sided prismatic crystals with pointed terminations. Smoky quartz is widely found in hydrothermal veins and pegmatites and is one of the most recognized varieties of quartz.
