Description:
Yellow fluorite specimen from the Cave-In-Rock mining district of southern Illinois. The specimen features intergrown cubic fluorite crystals forming a compact cluster with stepped crystal faces and visible cleavage surfaces. The fluorite displays pale yellow to honey-colored tones with areas of translucent crystal growth.
Several cubic crystal faces are visible across the main display surface, with natural growth contacts and stepped formations typical of fluorite from this district. The crystals show moderate transparency in thinner sections with internal zoning visible in some areas.
Specimen Details:
The fluorite crystals are attached to a natural matrix base with additional smaller crystal formations present in recessed areas. Portions of the specimen show natural cleavage faces where larger crystals have separated along fluorite’s characteristic cubic cleavage planes. Minor natural inclusions and surface textures are present consistent with material from the Cave-In-Rock district.
The specimen can be displayed upright to show the primary crystal faces and stepped cubic formations.
